Communial Living of the Future

With San Diego's population quickly growing space and housing has become an issue. To solve this problem I engaged my enthusiasm for biomimicry and applied Life's Principals and Design Lens.

Using the Weaire–Phelan structure made of the pyritohedrons and the truncated hexagonal trapezohedron many of the specific problems found in San Diego's environment were addressed.

Each shape would be a modular room with one measured side being approximately five feet, but also allowed to be scaled to fit architectural needs for larger structures, such as, entertainment halls, educational buildings or shopping centers.

The unique form allows for building in San Diego's hilly terrain, greatly reducing the need for costly, damaging, time consuming excavation. This also allows for once unsuitable space to become fruitful.

Plus, the bio-phallic form allows for individual creativity or blending into the landscape. The structure could easily be parasitic and added to existing builds without having to tear down and rebuild to go green.
