Stitched Book
This progressive project I took the opportunity to explore the stimulating visual effect of CMYK; printing, layering, how they read off each other. I explored Bradbury Thompson and his blending of photography, typography, and color.
After the O & X creative exercise we were told to pick a portion of the doodling that we liked, specifically a character to fill a 6 page book, a character, and packaging.
In the sketching process I pulled out my pens and play with the visual influence. I hand-stitched the pattern I had laid out in Illustrator. Using textured paper to elevate the tactile experience, I played off the color contrasting white and black with stripes and dots.
When it came time to create a 3-d version of the character. I took the sense of sight farther with transparent soft fabric shapes that would change the pages when used. I carried the entire project to the packaging to encapsulate the experience.
